Sydney events at a glance
This guide covers Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2026 in Sydney. KeenOut reviewed the linked official pages on 13 September. Each listing below uses one precise group session inside the organiser’s broader event, so everyone can join the same plan without guessing which time or location applies.
Event organisers remain responsible for admission, schedules, accessibility and cancellations. KeenOut coordinates the social group only. Check the official page again before travelling, particularly for outdoor plans and separately ticketed entry.
- Saturday 10:30am–1:30pm: The Big Design Market group at Carriageworks
- Saturday 11:30am–2:30pm: Thailand Grand Festival lunch at Tumbalong Park
- Saturday 5pm–6pm: The Big Busk Sunset Symphony at First Fleet Park
- Sunday 9:30am–11:30am: Carman’s Fun Run 5K from Metcalfe Park
Choose by energy, not fear of missing out: browse, eat, listen or run. One clear yes is better than four plans you never confirm.
The Big Design Market
The Big Design Market returns to Carriageworks in Eveleigh from Friday to Sunday. KeenOut’s Saturday group session runs from 10:30am to 1:30pm, inside the organiser’s wider 9am–6pm Saturday hours.
The organiser lists more than 230 exhibitors across homewares, ceramics, art, fashion, jewellery, books and stationery. Adult admission is A$8 including booking fees, and entry is free for children aged 12 and under. Each person needs their own admission; purchases from exhibitors and food vendors are optional.
Carriageworks lists all-level access, a street-level ramp at 245 Wilson Street, an accessible drop-off on Carriageworks Way and wheelchair-accessible toilets. Check the current accessibility information or contact the organiser if you need a particular adjustment.
- Good for quieter conversation and creative interests
- A$8 adult admission at the time of research
- Indoor, cashless and easy to continue browsing after the group session

Thailand Grand Festival
The free Thailand Grand Festival runs at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour on Saturday and Sunday from 10am. KeenOut’s Saturday lunch session is 11:30am–2:30pm, giving the group a clear arrival time inside the wider festival day.
The official listing includes Thai street food from several regions, live music, cultural performances, Muay Thai and cooking demonstrations. Entry is free; food and other purchases are separate. Use the private group chat to agree on a precise public meeting landmark before travelling.
Make food the shared activity: choose one dish each, compare what people found and keep moving rather than forcing a formal introduction. Check the official page on Saturday morning for the latest program and access advice.
- Good for people who prefer moving around to sitting down
- Free entry; bring your own food and transport budget
- Save one unmistakable public meeting landmark in chat

The Big Busk: Sunset Symphony
The Big Busk brings free Sydney Youth Orchestras performances to public spaces across central Sydney on Saturday. This KeenOut plan uses the official 5pm–6pm Sunset Symphony finale at First Fleet Park, Circular Quay, rather than asking a group to chase performances between locations.
The concert is free and the organiser suggests bringing friends, family and a picnic. Donations supporting youth music are optional and external. Because it is outdoors, check the organiser’s page again on Saturday for any program or weather changes.
Arrive before 5pm and agree on one public landmark in chat. A precise one-hour finale is much easier for a new group than trying to locate a moving program across several parts of the city.
- Good for a low-cost cultural plan
- Free, with any donation optional and external
- Easy to extend with a short Circular Quay walk if the group wants

Carman’s Fun Run: Sunday 5K
Carman’s Fun Run starts from Metcalfe Park in Pyrmont on Sunday. KeenOut’s plan is specifically for the official 5K, whose priority wave begins at 9:30am and whose course cut-off is 11:30am. The half marathon, 10K and Pink Lady 5K Walk use different start times and are not interchangeable with this group.
Every attendee must register separately for the 5K through the organiser before joining KeenOut. The organiser lists last-minute entry at A$70 for adults and A$60 for under-18s. Arrive early for your bib and bag drop, and use group chat to agree on a public meeting point in the event village.
The organiser lists first aid, toilets, clothing storage and on-course hydration. The social win is starting together, encouraging one another and reconnecting after the finish—not matching everyone’s kilometre pace.
- Good for adults who can comfortably prepare for a 5K
- Currently A$70 adult entry, paid to the external provider
- Read the event guide and register for the 5K before joining

How joining with KeenOut works
Open a listing above and choose Join with others. KeenOut uses the existing city, matching, privacy, notification and chat systems to form a compatible small group when enough eligible people are interested. Exact coordination stays private rather than being published on the event page.
Joining the KeenOut group is free. External admission, food, drinks, purchases, donations and transport are arranged separately with their providers.
Group registration closes 10 minutes before the listed session. If an organiser changes or cancels an event, check the source page and follow any update shown in your KeenOut plan.
Make the decision now: Saturday morning, Saturday lunch, Saturday sunset or Sunday run. Then let Discover handle the next step.
